So I want to do more tags on my blog however have no idea where to start. I also find it really difficult to talk about myself therefore I am going to kill two birds with one stone and do an about me tag! If these go to plan I’m hopefully going to do these every Tuesday however with exams coming up it might not happen until July! Anyway lets focus on this one for now, I saw this on BooksandLala’s channel which you can check out here and you can see the original tag here. So lets get on with it!
1. What do you study/what is your job?
I am a third year student studying Biomedical Science which really isn’t as glamorous as it sounds! It involves topics such as microbiology (bacteria/viruses), Haematology (Blood) and Histology (staining of cells) amongst other things. Pretty much anything involving bodily fluids I’m somewhat involved.
2. What is your favourite social media network?
Oh this is hard, my favourite is probably twitter as I like reading short things that I can quickly skim through. I also love Youtube and spend far too much time procrastinating by watching the videos on there! We’ve all been there and ending up at 3am watching the top 10 conspiracy theories!
3. If you had another blog what would it be about?
I’d like to think Science however it would mainly be science related books which I could probably include on this blog so I don’t think that counts. I would like to do a lifestyle blog, talking about like what fun things I did in the week or what new products I tried and enjoyed. I was debating whether or not to do that on this blog? Like a top product of the week post but I don’t know if you guys would enjoy that, let me know in the comments if you think it’s a good idea.
4. Do you play any instruments?
In short no. I used to play violin in high school however probably couldn’t do it now!
5. What hobbies do you have other than reading?
But…reading is my life! I do enjoy walking but don’t do it as much as I would like. I do enjoy baking and specialise in desserts (mainly because I enjoy the rewards at the end). I do enjoy crafting however just tend to make little origami things such as these gorgeous corner bookmarks which have the added benefit of being used as a bookmark so instead of using an old receipt you can make your own cute bookmarks!
6. Favourite TV shows?
I watch so many TV shows! It used to be Gossip Girl however that finished *cries*, I like Doctor Who (David Tennant as the doctor though). I also enjoy House M.D. I am currently making my way through How To Get Away With Murder, I like the tension however I think the flashbacks get annoying REALLY quickly so I have to watch it in stages and is definitely not a binge watch show.
7. What got you into reading?
My parents always used to read to me when I was younger. Then every year when we got our school report cards my family would buy me the latest Harry Potter (which came out around the same time), I would then read these and from that my love of reading just grew until now I have books stashed all over the house and my parents now believe I have a hoarding problem (they’re all my babies, I can’t get rid of them!)
8. Favourite and least favourite genres
My favourite genre is probably psychological thriller however only if it is done well meaning I don’t see any upcoming twists or guess who the killer is. I also enjoy YA fantasy however again this can be hit or miss as some might get a bit too repetitive for me (boy meets girl, they’re friends, they find out they love each other but she loves someone else until the final book when she finally realises she’s loved him all along).
My least favourite genre is probably romance, I’m really not a big fan of love stories, they are just so predictable and mushy gushy so I just tend to avoid them. Also horror is a genre I avoid even though I love horror, it’s just that horror books don’t scare me, if a book does scare me then it instantly goes on to the top of my favourite books pile however the majority just claim to be horror because there is a ghost in the story that isn’t dangerous but is just a presence that wants to be released from it’s body. It’s predictable and not scary.
9. What books define your childhood?
Early childhood you’re looking at things like we’re going on a bear hunt, the very hungry caterpillar and owl babies. However during school it was definitely Harry Potter and any Jacqueline Wilson book. Jacqueline Wilson was hands down my favourite childhood author, I loved and owned every single book she had written and I still have them to this day (I told you I can’t get rid of books! It’s a problem, I have accepted it!)
10. Tell us an interesting fact about you
Can my interesting fact be that I never know what to say when it comes to these things? No? Erm it’s interesting that I have been sat here for 5 minutes trying to think of an interesting fact. Ok I’m just going to go for it…I wanted to be a journalist when I was younger. That’s interesting enough right? Yes, good! At least we got that out the way!
That’s all about me! I’m not going to tag anyone but please feel free to do this tag and comment below with your link so that I can find out more about you! Also do you think I should do a weekly product review on my blog? Comment below!
