I was torn going into this book. Part of me was like AHH A NEW BOOK BY J.K. ROWLING ABOUT THE HARRY POTTER UNIVERSE!!!!! However another part of me was like…look what happened with Cursed Child. So I was really apprehensive going into this book.
About 10 pages in though I was so entranced! I absolutely loved it! It was new yet old at the same time! There was new creatures and it was set in New York and there was new information about magical schools and other magic things. However we also had the familiar nostalgia of slipping into the Harry Potter universe and knowing that it was going to be good.
Ok so to try and form actual thoughts for this review…the story is once again absolutely brilliant. The creatures described are so lifelike that even though this is a screenplay you can still picture them so vividly. The characters are lovable and it was just so much fun slipping back into this universe!
We find out more magical information, there are more than just the schools mentioned in Goblet of Fire, we find out views about Hogwarts from characters who didn’t go to the school. It is new and interesting and I just want more! Please?
I don’t want to give too much away with this review so I’m trying skirt around the plot a bit. Basically we follow Newt to New York where he gets himself into a bit of trouble but also finds some friends to help. There are new creatures that we are introduced to that are incredibly cute! I want every single one, they all sound so interesting! Once again J.K. doesn’t fail to awe with her imagination.
I absolutely loved the book and now really want to see the film! I can only hope it is as good as the book! I would definitely recommend it, even if you aren’t a fan of screenplays this one you can fly through and still get all the description you would want to create a vivid scenery. After Cursed Child this book has restored by faith in J.K., now please can we have more Harry Potter related things? Maybe the life of Newt? A series involving him? Anything? PLEASE!
Summing up: Magic and cute creatures!
