New York Times bestselling author Tara Sue Me’s Submissive series is back with a scorching new romance that proves the difference between excitement and pain is just point of view…
She’s ready for her close-up. . . .
Meagan Bishop gave up modeling after an ill-fated tryst with a sexy photographer left her career and heart in shambles. When that same sexy shutterbug makes a titillating offer to do a BDSM spread for his new photography book, she’s determined to refuse—until an anonymous blackmailer entices her to accept. Now her body is again at the whim of the man who broke her heart, and she’s finding his strong direction undeniably intriguing. . . .
Meagan is the muse Luke needs to make his shoot something special, even if it means keeping his hands off. But each new erotic scene they capture makes it harder to ignore his need to command her in the bedroom as well as the studio.
As their sexual tension explodes, Meagan’s arrangement with her extortionist becomes more perilous, putting in danger her darkest secrets and the fragile passion between Luke and her. . .
After reading the previous book in the series and giving it a 5 star I felt I had to read this one to see if it could possibly be any better! You can see my full review of The Master (previous book) here.
So as I started out my previous review I feel like I need to specify that erotica is not my chosen genre. However after reading the 50 shades series I felt like I had to give this genre another go hence why I read The Master.
This book contains characters from the previous book however they become side characters and we focus more on characters that were only briefly mentioned in the previous book. Here we find Meagan Bishop who is being blackmailed by someone calling themselves “the taskmaster”, she has to get information on an old flame or else risk exposure, the consequences of which would not just ruin her life but the lives of her family.
Once again we see another steamy novel from this author. Although it is not just about the BDSM and sex, it is also just as thrilling as any mystery or crime novel. However lets just say the sex scenes aren’t to be overlooked, they are VERY steamy!
Without giving away too much of the story I think this book was very well written, I have never before seen erotica and thriller in the same book and yet here it is, looking like the two always should have gone together.
If you were a fan of the previous book then you will definitely like this (unfortunately I can’t speak for the other books in the series as I am yet to read them). Also if you have just finished 50 shades of Grey and are looking for something similar then please do read this book! It shows the right way of BDSM relationships and there is nothing controlling about it. It shows that there should be trust and respect between the two partners and that the submissive holds all the power. This is what a BDSM book should be, not the controlling and abusive relationship.
So overall this is a steamy book, definitely one to read ready for Valentine’s day to make sure you enjoy the day. I would definitely recommend this for people who like the genre or those who are new to the genre and are just starting out. This is something that shows how to get into the lifestyle without the whole book being about the lifestyle. It dips your toes in so to speak so that the reader can see the true value of a trusting BDSM relationship.
Summing up: Steamy and thrilling!
