Incarceron is a prison so vast that it contains not only cells, but also metal forests, dilapidated cities, and vast wilderness. Finn, a seventeen-year-old prisoner, has no memory of his childhood and is sure that he came from Outside Incarceron. Very few prisoners believe that there is an Outside, however, which makes escape seems impossible.

And then Finn finds a crystal key that allows him to communicate with a girl named Claudia. She claims to live Outside- she is the daughter of the Warden of Incarceron, and doomed to an arranged marriage. Finn is determined to escape the prison, and Claudia believes she can help him. But they don’t realize that there is more to Incarceron than meets the eye. Escape will take their greatest courage and cost more than they know.

So this book contains two worlds, one in a manor house, the other in a prison.

The manor house is a futuristic world run by computers, it is set in the 17th century because the King decided that change was bad and progress was unsafe. It is therefore held in the 17th century forever.

Then there’s Incarceron – a giant prison that is so vast it is a completely different world. In it contains a prisoner who is sure that he came from outside although the prison was sealed for centuries and only one man ever escaped. However Incarceron is not a normal prison, it is alive and has it’s own personality which is so different from any other book I’ve heard of.

I found this book really interesting, I was intrigued by the idea of a world where time was forbidden, I also wanted to know if the prisoner was from outside although it seemed highly unlikely.

While reading the book I did find that the twists were pretty predictable however the plot is so interesting with so many different places and characters that I didn’t care that I knew what the twist was, I just wanted to learn more about these interesting worlds.

The story wasn’t just told from one character, it switched, mainly between the two main characters but sometimes also from others as well. I loved the different perspectives, each had a completely different personality. There is action of pretty much every page, it is very fast paced, there are no dull points throughout the entire story. However the writing is smooth and you can easily follow what is happening even though everything happens so quickly.

This book has a captivating story that will stay with you because it is just so different! All in all it was a good book, if you want something different to normal book and you like action packed adventure books then this is the one for you

Rating: 4.5/5

Summing up: Action packed
